Connecting the dots…

Connection is so important for many reasons, affecting your neurobiology; all the way down to your DNA. It is becoming more apparent to one’s attention the missed opportunities humanity are missing out on. Especially due to technology.

What really inspired this blog; was the continual use of mobile phones during dialogue. And how such a small, but yet powerful shift it has on behavior. And ultimately the opportunity to really connect with one others.

Rookie error 101…

A couple in their mid twenties  (presumably smitten) are having lunch together (hypothetically). The gentleman remains steadfast on his mobile phone gliding through Facebook like on ice. Just like Torvill and Dean in 1984. However the true lack of irony is that Torvill and Dean had to connect; to enable synchronicity and electromagnetic frequency through there hearts. Ultimately contributing to a gold medal. Now…this gentleman was missing ample signs given by his partner to connect. Simple nonverbal cues; such as eye contact, and micro expressions. Now research by American Psychologist Professor John Gottman can predict (with 88% accuracy) whether a couple will be together or not, based on one simple form of connection…BIDS! Now this type bidding for connection is as simple as making a comment or reference to a particular topic et cetera. However, if a couple can respond to one others bids (as mundane as they could be) 8 out of 10 times. The couple will have a deeper connection. On the contrary. If a couple respond to only 3/10 bids…you get my drift. And further distant a couple will become…

It is such a powerful shift Ladies and Gentleman.

Be present…

James 🙂
